Sloan's Automotive is a family owned and operated auto repair shop located South of downtown Orlando. Our family has been helping the community since the early 50's, spanning over four generations now. My great grandfather, Jay Sloan, moved to Orlando and purchased a Gulf service station to get the family started. Dean, my grandfather, learned to work on cars from a very young age and once he was grown, took over the family business.

Throughout his years, he owned and operated multiple Gulf and Shell service stations throughout town, building strong ties within the community and helping out many families along the way. He and my grandmother, Ann, had five boys and a girl and all of the boys hung around the stations as kids, picking up on Dean's vast knowledge. All of the boys worked at one of my grandfather's stations at one point or another, both as mechanics and managing the store. Years later most all of the boys had previously worked in, or were still working in the family stations. My grandpa ended up selling his last Shell station, which was located at the corner of Conway and Hoffner, in the early 90's.

My youngest uncle, Teddy, was the last Sloan at that station when he decided he wouldn't work for the new owners because of the way they were treating our customers, being dishonest and cutting corners on repairs. Shortly after, Teddy started Sloan's Automotive! It started off as a small shop off of Orange Ave in 1992 with him working mostly by himself, or with the help of my grandpa and my dad, Terry, in the evenings. As the next several years passed and the word spread through town of the good, friendly, honest work he did at his shop, he planned his next move. He built a new shop from the ground up and moved Sloan's Automotive to our current location in 2002!

After much success, and helping so many people over the years, Teddy passed away in the summer of 2003. Terry, who has worked on cars his whole life, stepped in shortly after to continue what Teddy had created. My dad had kept me away from working on cars pretty successfully throughout my growing up, but I eventually started my career here in 2005. Prior to coming in, I had worked valet parking for a while, which I thoroughly enjoyed. I came in to Sloan's Automotive as a service writer, not knowing much at all about cars believe it or not. I was thrown right into the mix working with customers and ordering parts, and had to quickly learn my way through the process and the cars both. I find that I am still learning something just about every day, always looking to improve what and how I do things.

My dad and I have been together here since 2005, working together to provide the best customer experience we can to everyone. We try each and every day to carry on the success and help people out the same way Teddy and the rest of the family before him had done for so long. It is very important to me that I continue and grow the legacy that was created for me by my family.
